Florida’s minimum wage will rise to $14.00 per hour on September 30, 2025, under the 2020 constitutional amendment that requires annual $1.00 increases each September until the wage reaches $15.00 in 2026.

For tipped employees, the direct cash wage will increase to $10.98 per hour. Employers may continue to take a tip credit of up to $3.02 per hour if tips make up the difference to at least $14.00.

The official state notice will be available here: 2025 Florida Minimum Wage Poster.

Why this matters

Florida employers cannot wait until the deadline to adjust. Payroll systems, scheduling, and budgets must be aligned before September 30. Employers must also post the updated notice in a conspicuous workplace location. Noncompliance exposes businesses to lawsuits under the Florida Minimum Wage Act, which allows employees to recover back pay, liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, and costs.

Action checklist for Florida employers

  • Post the 2025 Florida Minimum Wage poster in all worksites.

  • Adjust payroll to ensure every hourly employee earns at least $14.00 per hour starting September 30.

  • Review tip pooling, service charge, and gratuity practices for compliance with the $10.98 direct wage requirement.

  • Prepare now for the final increase to $15.00 per hour on September 30, 2026.

  • Train managers to confirm compliance and avoid inadvertent violations.

Key takeaway

The voter-approved minimum wage schedule is nearing its conclusion. Employers should act now to prepare for the $14.00 rate and look ahead to the $15.00 increase in 2026. Early compliance reduces exposure to costly wage and hour claims.
